Ghana and the Bahamas have agreed to waive visa requirements for their citizens who hold certain types of passports. The agreement was signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas on February 20.

The visa waiver deal is expected to facilitate smooth and hassle-free travel between the two countries, especially for tourists, business people, and officials. It will also strengthen the bilateral relations and cooperation between Ghana and the Bahamas, which are both members of the Commonwealth of Nations.

According to a circular issued by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the visa waiver applies to holders of Diplomatic, Service and Ordinary Passports. This means that Ghanaian and Bahamian passport holders can visit each other's country without applying for a visa in advance, as long as they meet the entry requirements and stay within the allowed duration.

The circular also stated that the Government of Bahamas has informed the relevant Ghanaian aviation authorities, airline companies and services of the signed agreement. It urged all officers in charge of entry and exit points and other relevant sections to take note of the new arrangement and act accordingly.

The visa waiver agreement between Ghana and the Bahamas is a welcome development for travellers who want to explore the diverse and attractive destinations in both countries. Ghana is known for its rich culture, history, and natural beauty, while the Bahamas is famous for its stunning beaches, islands, and coral reefs. With the visa waiver deal, travellers can enjoy the best of both worlds without any visa hassle.
