The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has chosen John Dramani Mahama as its flagbearer for the 2024 general election. Mr Mahama, who served as the President of Ghana from 2012 to 2017, has pledged to honour all the promises he has made to the Ghanaian people if he wins the election.
Speaking at the 2024 NDC Policy Dialogue in Peduase in the Eastern Region on Friday, Mr Mahama outlined some of his key promises, such as cutting down the size of government, abolishing ex gratia payments for public officials, and cancelling the e-levy that has sparked public outcry.
“I am serious about the promises I have made and I will keep them,” the former President said.
Mr Mahama also stressed the feasibility of his policy proposals, such as the “24-Hour Economy” and the “Digital Jobs Initiative,” claiming that these initiatives would greatly improve the country’s prospects, especially its economic situation.
“I have presented over 60 different policy proposals since 2021, which are designed to revive our economy and national life in general, and make them much better,” he said.
The NDC Policy Dialogue was a two-day event that involved various party groups, who engaged in discussions and fine-tuned policy proposals that would be part of the party’s 2024 election manifesto.
